This sounds really psychedelic to me. I wasn't aware of Deep Purple made works like this, i simply considered them a mere hard rock band in the 70's. I guess Smoke on the Water kind of spoiled their image as a band. This song is simply extraordinary though. And it inspired zelda music! ha

that's impossible... I thought history said that Jesus Christ Superstar was the first rock opera... O ya... It was the first, but it started with Broadway, he came out with an idea to do an opera of rock, I know his name, but I forgot, O ya, guess who was Jesus Christ on the Broadway? Ian Gillan played him... The movie came out in 70. This song should have been called a rock opera...

Hmmm, A Quick One was the first short length rock opera, another band made one in 68, then Tommy came out in 69, but its considered the first largely successful one. Jesus Christ Superstar came out in 70, and you go from there (and I personally hated the Wall, the ones I listed above + Quadrophenia are amazing though) This isn't a rock opera. Brilliant asskicking song, but its not a rock opera.
