Actually you can, if you're playing Super robot route.
But if you're playing Real robot route, then you'll see an interesting scene where Camille help Shin planning to take down Freedom.

Second mission for Setsuko route, and you pretty much stick with them after that.

They really improved the graphics in this game. On top of that, Im so happy that Turn A and Gundam X are in this since Alpha Gaiden

why you have that kind of hateful thought? Its true that they throw a lot of new series in this game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Lot people actually enjoy it this way, rather than the repetition of the same cast all over.
