They're not laughing *at* him, they're laughing at his illustrations and jokes. (Perhaps you just didn't get the jokes?) Like the "Think of it like the physical layer of the OSI 7 layer model" line... if you're not a networking and protocol stack geek you won't get that, but I found it funny as heck!

NLP is fun and can, I think, work, but there's a danger that it can become dogmatic rote behaviour, rather than a fluid set of guidelines. I've read about people following an interviewer's every move, and just freaking the guy out, for instance. I think mostly its stuff to take on board and adapt to the people and situations you meet, rather than actually doing, word for word, the stuff reccomended in the video.
