Euvin Naidoo on investing in Africa

http://www.ted.com -In the talk that opened TEDGlobal's historic conference, "Africa: The Next Chapter," South African investment banker Euvin Naidoo sets the scene, framing the conversation that would unfold over the four-day event. "What's the worst thing you've heard about Africa?" he asks. After fielding call-outs of "famine," "war," "corruption," he urges the audience to move past these preconceptions (reinforced, as they are, by a narrowly focused media) and see the broader picture of a continent on the cusp of enormous change. He sketches a compelling profile of Africa as he sees it -- large, diverse, full of potential -- and offers persuasive reasons why the continent's challenges should be reframed as opportunities, and why investing in Africa can make great business sense.

This man is selling cheap labor, consumers, souls to 'foreign' investors and debt. No? Does no one dare to ask what made forestry in Uganda possible? 'Qui bono' JayJBee "Only serious reply's please"

africa needs to shut everybody out for a few decades and rebuild itself completely-no america, no eu, no china, no arabs-africa is big enough where it can trade with itself and be very well off before letting the parasites back in. Once you open the borders, you can have the strategy to limit the parasites' power.

What Africa seriously needs to do is nationalize all our resources so that WE sell our stuff, and WE reap the benefits and WE build up our countries, because the ppl that own everything and mine our lands dont give a damn about us or our standard of living. Its the only way that the richest continent in terms of mineral wealth will be somewhat comparable to the rest of the continents.

South Africa is developed and there is still unrest. Most of Africa is rich beyond imagination but the wealth is only distributed amongst the corrupt and not the people. A united Africa without corruption and corrupt people would be a blessing to all mankind. I pray that Africa gets rid of the tribal way of thinking and accept all tribes as one. After all, We are all one race... The human race. Peace and love to all.

Couldn't agree more so called cast Indians in Africa? Just look at the historical record of Indians in Africa Uganda,Kenya,Madagasca and Tanzania. In the carribean conflict between Indians and blacks they are no better than white racist pigs. Africans must unite to solve our own problems.

Most excellent intro to Africa and the various countries therein. Kudos to TED and Euvin Naidoo for bringing critical focus to Africa and its emerging role in global business integration and sustainable development. :)

Africa is resource rich so they will stay poor. The U.S. will exploit them for oil and diamonds while backing dictators. There are forces at work too strong to fix with simple aid.

This Idiot is putting my continent up for grasp..."Hey,you can exploit these poor Africans by giving them ATM's" Fuck OFF...
