Cool video bro. I was looking for something on the EMG SAs and found what I was looking for.

That's interesting considering the pickups are passive. Try a noise gate, or try standing in a different spot(this works for me in the little room you see here). If you have the gain dimed try it at 8 instead, you still get decent crunch with less noise. The Guild X-79 in my other video has the same problem when the gain is turned up. There may also be other sources of interference causing this, like if there are electric motors anywhere nearby(fans, generators). Hope that helps!

clean: volume(3)gain(3), crunch:volume(2)gain(10); deep switch(on), tone shift(off), presence(7), treble(8), mid(5), bass(8). This was right after I got it and got away from the commonly seen "V"-eq profile. Well at least I had the tone shift off.

Lol the first chord you played, I wanted to start singing AMEEEERRIIIICAAA, FUCK YEAH! XD
Thanks for the review. I have a question. I have a schecter Damien-6 that I am playing through which has passive emg-hz pickups. I was on tour a while ago, and I could get the thing to stop giving feedback, I was playing through a Mesa Boogie, with heavy distortion. My friend said lowering the pick ups would help, but it seems like I get a more muddy sound? Any tips?

What are your settings on the amp?

I read somewhere the USA's are made of poplar, while the Pro's are made of alder. I bought it new in '92 and God knows where the catalog I saw it in ended up.

The head yes, the cab might lose some definition at super high volumes if it isn't miked, it only has 2 12" Celestions in it. You could probably get away with a classic rock show, but for metal I would definitely connect to a 1960.

would this amp and cab be loud enough to gig?

Thanks, man. I am considering EMGs for my Ibanez. The Jackson sounds like its a mahogany body - is that right? Also check out the techniques/tricks buckethead does with the kill switch.

Thank you- they are the stock tubes, 4 ECC83's for the preamps and 2EL34 power valves. I've read a lot about people praising their decisions to swap in JJ's or Svetlana's but as you can hear, no need to change anything just yet. Your guitar/pickup combo will have a lot to due with what drives the gain. |
