Actually Japanese culture is known for assimilating other cultures and then improving them while being lackluster in originating it's own ideas. It's actually part of the reason they lost WW2 (we out innovated them with newer ideas such as the use of radar).

its a short series, only 5 episodes so like 2 hours and a half i guess? but its only on one disc so i guess you could call it a movie, its just split up every half hour lol
