Agnetha Faltskog - Remember Me
In 2004 Agnetha returned to the recording studio after 17 years away to record the album My Colouring Book. She wanted to record something special for her family, friends and fans with a meaningful connection with fond memories from the past. Agnetha pays tribute to the artists who have inspired her:
"Thank you Jackie DeShannon, Doris Day, the Shangri-Las, Connie Francis, Petula Clark, Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black, Rita Pavone, Sylvie Vartan, Dusty Springfield, Demis Roussos, Simon & Garfunkel, Skeeter Davis, Cliff Richard, Paul Anka, the Beatles, Beach Boys, Neil Sedaka, Brian Hyland, Grace Kelly , Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and many many more. You are all deep within my heart and will stay there forever. "
There was no public promotion for the new album. Agnetha held a party for the album release at Bern's in Stockholm in April 2004, attended by 150 friends and relatives. Her daughter Linda Ulvaeus was there, she recorded back-ups on several of the songs along with Sofia Tretow (Michael's daughter) and Svea Strings.
Agnetha's comments for Remember Me are:
"Sandie Shaw, the barefoot singer, may be best known for 'Puppet On A String'. She has such a special way of singing, and she's one of my many role models."
Would we still remember her after 17 years away? The public soon gave their answer. The album topped the charts in Sweden, reached the top 5 in many European contries and no. 12 in the UK. It sold 500,000 copies worldwide, 50,000 of those in the UK alone. Welcome back Agnetha, we will certainly never forget you!
Here she is back where she belongs, in action in the studio, giving everything to the performance as she always does. Its clear she enjoyed making this comeback album.
Lyrics and music: Chris Andrews
As you walk from my side, the tears I try to hide
Are running down my cheek, I find it hard to speak
This is our last goodbye, but darling will you please
Remember me from time to time, the one who loves you
Remember me from time to time, I won't forget you
Oh please remember me, and I'll remember too
I watch you walk away, but in my mind you stay
An everlasting dream, to me you've always been
And please don't turn around as you walk away
Remember me from time to time, the one who loves you
Remember me from time to time, I won't forget you
Oh please remember me, and I 'll remember too
Remember me from time to time, the one who loves you
Remember me from time to time, I won't forget you
Oh please remember me, and I 'll remember too
I remember so please remember...

P.S. I have always wished I could have seen a live performance, I only had the albums etc. My great wish has always been to meet you Agnetha. To have a autograthed picture. WOW! I am going to the UK in August. It is my hope to cross over to France and see if I can find The "new" CD, "My Colouring Book" so my collection is complete. You are wonderful Agnetha, remember that millions here in Canada love you. Might there be another album again??? Your long distance great fan, Rob

I love her voice, style, presentation and beauty. albeit, a few, carry them selves in such a way that you are drawn to them. The way Agnetha performs, is like she sings to each individual. I believe that to come back after 17 years and produce an album is totally awesome. I live in Canada and not even with the U.S. the shame of this album is it was never released over here. If it had been, with such a huge audience/fan base, she would have topped the charts and sold millions. It is our loss.

Yes you're right, Agnetha's singing voice is very clear and sounds better than ever despite not performing for 17 years. And she's still a fantastic looking lady at 53 here! |
