A quarter ounce is an eighth for each of them. They probably ate a bunch at once because the stone wasn't kicking in as fast as they thought it would. Combine that with not being used to pot and scared of getting caught and you've got yourself a freakout. And yes, that cop should have gone to jail. For STEALING POT from the guy he confiscated it from. That ganj belonged to the guy the cop took it from, and nobody - not the cop, not the government he works for, NOBODY - had the right to take it.
